Together in the Aftermath: Assess, Respond, Rebuild

In response to the recent seismic events, a dedicated joint team conducted a participatory, community-based assessment at Prk. Upper Puting Bato, Calumpang, General Santos City.

This effort aims to evaluate structural impacts, listen to affected residents, and lay the groundwork for targeted shelter relief and rehabilitation.

Key Assessment Activities

To ensure an accurate and community-centered approach, the team employed dynamic, participatory methods throughout the field visit:

Courtesy Meeting with PPDFI Staff — Setting shared goals and aligning field protocols.

Orientation on Assessment Purpose & Process — Briefing partners and community representatives before deployment.

House-to-House Inspection — Walking ground zero to observe actual physical conditions.

Visual Assessment of Damaged Houses — Identifying structural risks and immediate shelter needs.

Household Interviews using Rapid Assessment Tools — Directly gathering ground-level experiences and urgent requirements from affected families.

Photo Documentation — Capturing precise visual evidence of shelter damages.

Validation Meeting & Data Consolidation — Synthesizing field findings with PPDFI for accurate post-assessment reporting and response planning.
