Community Empowerment and Health Center Turnover | Sitio Lambusong

September 18 — The staff and volunteers of the Passionist Philanthropic Development Foundation, Inc. (PPDFI), together with Rev. Fr. Orven O. Gonzaga, CP, Rev. Fr. Jeffty M. Mendez, CP, and Rev. Fr. Mark Ian N. Peliño, CP, in collaboration with the Rotary Club Metro Cebu and Spring Rain Global, journeyed to the scenic heights of Sitio Lambusong, Brgy. Lam-apos, Banga, South Cotabato. The activity aimed to conduct an enlightening seminar on the VAWC Act (RA 9262), or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.

The seminar was led by Atty. Evelyn T. Nuñez, President of the Rotary Club Metro Cebu, who discussed the provisions and importance of the VAWC Act. This was complemented by a session on financial literacy facilitated by Dr. Glenda M. Antonio, Founder and CEO of Spring Rain Global, equipping community members with practical knowledge for financial empowerment.

September 19 — The second day began with a Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Jeffty M. Mendez, CP, and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Orven O. Gonzaga, CP, and Rev. Fr. Mark Ian N. Peliño, CP. Following the Eucharistic celebration, Rev. Fr. Orven O. Gonzaga, CP led the turnover ceremony of the newly renovated health center, marking a significant milestone for the community.

The program continued with a fellowship lunch, after which Fr. Orven, CP, facilitated a meeting with local farmers to further discuss financial literacy and livelihood concerns.

Throughout the two-day activity, the enthusiasm and joy evident in the faces of the teachers, parents, and students were truly inspiring. Their eagerness to participate and learn reflected the community’s strong commitment to growth and development. The day’s activities were rooted in the shared purpose of uplifting the community, fostering education, and strengthening collaboration.
